Similarly to the previous year Tax Liberation Days Study received an exceptionally good media coverage in Belgium, France, Germany and Latvia in particular. The study was covered by the leading news agencies Reuters and DPA and by most of the Belgium press including print, on-line, TV and radio. In France, France Inter, Les Echos, Le Figaro and RTL, were among the major media.

New Direction – The Foundation for European Reform published on 12 October 2011 a study Ending Excess: Cutting the cost of the European parliament. The study analyses often publicly unavailable expenditures by the European Parliament including the costs of translation services, officials, buildings, security or self- promotion. It proposes concrete long term cuts that would save up 400 million euros per year. The authors are president of New Direction Geoffrey Van Orden MEP, MBE and vice-president Derk Jan Eppink MEP.

New Direction – The Foundation for European Reform in partnership with Institut économique Molinari published 7 June an exclusive Europe wide calendar of Tax Freedom Days using one methodology across all EU member countries. The calendar was calculated by Ernst & Young with data reflecting the tax reality experienced by real, working people in all 27 member states.The study received a good deal of media coverage.
